Health Alert: Men at 40 Risk of Cardiac Death 1 in 8
Submitted by Wesley on November 20, 2009 - 12:12pm.
One of the worst manifestations of cardiac disease is sudden death and according to a recent study it is far more prevalent than once thought.
As terrifying as this is, the researchers noted, the danger is "largely preventable and include eating healthfully, quitting smoking and getting exercise as well as taking medicines when necessary to reduce blood pressure and cholesterol levels that are important risk factors for cardiovascular disease." And despite the "sudden" nature of the problem there are usually warning signs preceding the attack giving the individual time to mitigate assuming they are recognized as such. This is an example where ignorance really can kill. Individuals should consult their medical professionals about anything that could be an indication of heart problems.
