Book Review: "Start With the Answer" by Bob Seelert Chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi
Submitted by Wesley on May 19, 2009 - 8:24am.
"Start with the Answer: And Other Wisdom for Aspiring Leaders" is a straight-forward collection of tidbits of wisdom covering everything from leadership to economics and finance. The 230-page book is easy-to-read and most chapters consist of a single page focused on a specific lesson learned by Seelert during his long and successful career. So as to insure that the reader doesn't miss the point he is trying make, Seelert ends each chapter with a one sentence summary of the intended message. This pithy commentary is the highlight of the book and time-challenged readers can gain a lot by simply scanning these highlighted passages. Examples include, "A great idea, poorly executed, is worse than no idea at all" and "Leadership is intangible. The first step is earning the trust of people you work with. Everything else follows from that." Who should buy this? Anyone from newly minted college graduates to those considering a career change or just about anyone wanting to do a better job at their workplace could benefit from these timeless lessons.
