Sex and the 40-Something Woman

Why do most women say that their sex life is at its best in their 40s? The Guardian's' Joanna Moorhead looks at a variety of possibilities in her piece "The Joy of Confidence," including changing body chemistry, the freedom of the empty nest, new partners, and changing mores. She doesn't identify any one factor but the range is interesting. So too are the comments, many of which point out that for married women and men, there can be serious consequences to the extramarital sex that some of Moorhead's subjects are so enthused about.
