We don't obsess over our traffic numbers like some websites, but we do keep an eye on our stats. And we found some interesting things about 2008:

  • We had just about 1m pages viewed, up significantly over 2007, which was our first full year of operation.
  • Visitors came from 210 countries, but about 70% were from the U.S. Our largest audience is in New York City, followed by London and Sydney. At the other end of the scale, we had 14 visits from Polynesia.
  • Visitors spent over 20,000 hours at the site (a number that's probably lower than reality due to the way it's calculated).
  • People searching Google for keywords such as "midlife crisis" were our primary source of new visitors, but "what's in a twinkie" -- where we're the #1 result on Google -- sent over 2,000 visits our way.

And the results of one ad hoc personality test are in: nearly 10% of LifeTwo visitors use a Mac, a higher percentage than you'd expect based on unit sales.

Thanks to everyone who helped make last year a good one, and we're looking forward to a great (rest of) 12009!

--- These statistics-gathering programs don't track anything about you as an individual; they only aggregate the data passed between our reader's browsers and the LifeTwo website. This includes IP addresses (so the stats tools can -- for instance -- determine that people using Comcast in the San Francisco area visited 10,000 times), browser, and operating system.
