Nostalgia's Bad Rap

Conventional wisdom is that nostalgia is a worthless waste of time and it is often derided by mental health professionals as well. Being nostalgic is often considered synonymous with being stuck in the past. Not so fast says a recent study published in the journal Psychological Science. From the press release on the study (which we first touched on in this post).
The psychological benefits of nostalgia might explain why it's such a strong force. From reminiscing to collecting toys from our youth, nostalgia is all around us and why it can be so pleasing.
