Submitted by Wesley on January 12, 2009 - 5:39pm.

Gertrude is 114 and is one of 90 validated "supercentenarians"-- anyone who has been validated to have lived to be 110 years or older. As in indication of the impact of gender on longevity, 81 of these supercentenarians are women with only 9 begin male. According to the Gerontology Research Group, among the oldest living people on earth are: 1 U.S. Gertrude Baines Apr. 6, 1894 (114) 2 U.S. Beatrice Farve Apr. 30, 1895 (114) 3 Japan Kama Chinen May 10, 1895 (113) 4 Canada Mary Josephine Ray May 17, 1895 (113) 5 U.S. Olivia Patricia Thomas June 29, 1895 (113) 6 U.S. Neva Morris Aug. 3, 1895 (113) 7 Japan Chiyo Shiraishi Aug. 6, 1895 (113) 8 Japan Tomoji Tanabe Sept. 18, 1895 (113) 9 U.S. Maggie Renfro Nov. 14, 1895 (113) 10 Japan Yoshino Ide Jan. 1, 1896 (113) (*whose age they have been able to validate. According t the GRG, "While the total number of validated cases cited above is only about ten percent of the suspected real-world total, it should also be noted that the bulk of the true Supecentenarians actually fall between [110 - 113] years old; hardly any ever survive to live past 115.") How did these people do it and how can you extend your life? A good place to start is the LifeTwo article "How Long Will You Live?". Read Similar LifeTwo Stories:
