One of the most sacred rituals that I recall from my childhood was that of getting into the car and driving, sometimes over an hour, to a favorite restaurant. The delicious saturated-fat laden food was a particular delight to my parents, who could remember the very lean times of the Great Depression. So perhaps once a month, we would pile into the Plymouth and head for locations like Chicken Annie's, or Wilder's, or the AQ Chicken House. (More at I Remember JFK).

Relevantly, Obama is part of Generation Jones

Cool blog. A related issue is Obama’s membership in Generation Jones (between the Boomers and Generation X). I’ve seen quite a few very credible experts emphatically insist that Obama is part of GenJones; if Obama’s generational identity is of interest to you, you should definitely click this link…it goes to a page filled with lots of articles and video of famous people arguing that Obama is a GenJoneser: http://www.generationjones.com/2008election.html
