Slightly Off-Topic: Are you getting a lot of emails from CNN?

Wesley's picture

If you are anything like me you have been besieged by emails purporting to be from CNN with various heading such as "CNN Alert" or "CNN News Alert". These are viruses and you should be aware of the threat they possess.

... the email itself is very nice CNN branded but contains a link that leads you directly to the malware. The senders address is spoofed and is not coming from cnn.com but this is not guaranteed for the future.
The link behind Full Story - so don’t click on this one - brings you to a, in this case, Russian web site where you need to download the proper Flash player to view the video. When you accept the malware file adobe_flash.exe is downloaded.

As noted above, I got these and put my cursor over the link and noticed it was going to a .ru site indicating that it was pointed at a site in Russia--making it clear that it was bogus.

Be careful with this one and as you should with all emails you are not expecting.

Speaking of which, LifeTwo sends out a monthly (or so) email. If you are not signed up for it, you should. It contains useful information that you might have missed and we typically include a contest or giveaway. Look in the upper right hand corner of this page and enter your email. You can unsubscribe at anytime.
