Aging Backwards Tuesday Tips #50: Premiere Beauty Show - Orlando

jackie's picture

We just returned from the 17th annual Premiere Orlando Beauty Show at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. The event, which typically attracts more than 41,000 members of the professional beauty industry, focuses on hair care, nails, skincare and business education. Aging Backwards was there to find the latest, greatest products and innovations for looking and feeling fabulous!

Here's a sampling of what we found:

1) ColorON...Professional. Everyone always says "there are no new ideas under the sun," but they're wrong this time. ColorON is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Want your makeup to look like those supermodels on the catwalk? Now, with ColorON, you can apply glamorous, gorgeous, perfect mineral eye shadow in about ten seconds without brushes or applicators. The pure mineral eye shadow is pre-designed on a soft, disposable applicator pad. All you do is place it on your eyelid, press lightly, remove the pad and you're stunning. ColorON comes in a variety of designs and shades for every taste and skin tone, with a few designs for those who want to stand out, such as Zebra, Leopard and Camouflage. This product is truly unique. ColorON

2) Kett Cosmetics - makeup for the digital age. Roque Cozzette, Kett's director of makeup, gave me a demo of this camera-ready, life-ready makeup. He used an airbrush machine, but you don't have to use one or be a makeup artist to get a beautiful, natural result with their foundations. Their Hydro (water-based) and Hydro Proof (waterproof) foundations are versatile enough to provide sheer to moderate coverage when applied with the fingertips, to even fully cover tattoos when airbrushed. Kett Cosmetics

3) True Colors All-in-One Natural Mineral Make-up. Talk about versatility, this is genius. True Colors makeup comes in "stacks" of colors - eight-stacks and five-stacks, with a wide variety of colors for any taste with names like Bitz of Glitz, Racy Pink Combo Stack, Brown Under and Caribbean Sunrise, to name a few. The products are pure color with no talc, oils or fillers. Here's where the versatility comes in: You can use all of the colors as eye shadow, blush, eyeliner, lips color, hair highlighter - even nail polish! Plus, you can mix the colors together to make new colors. It's like having an entire makeup kit in one convenient, portable stack. It's great for traveling, too, because there is no liquid involved (unless you're using it with nail polish.) True Colors

4) DivaDeva - The Ultimate Skincare Experience. DivaDeva President Cathy Cobetti-Goff is a walking testimonial for her products. Her skin is absolutely flawless and she confessed to me that she's in her mid-40s (hope it's okay to mention that, LOL). Among other ingredients, DivaDeva's products use peptides, chains of amino acids that form proteins, which science has proven repairs and restores skin to its youthful glow. DivaDeva offers an entire line of products to keep us Aging Backwards. DivaDeva

5) Bumpits - Big Hippie Hair. This product is not just functional - it takes your hair "from flat to fabulous, perfect volume and style effortlessly in seconds," but it's just so fun! Fun to say, fun to use - even their pink-and-black stripe printed materials are fun. Bumpits are little plastic devices with small teeth that allow it to stay firmly where you put them in the hair for instant volume. They're simple to use and come in various colors to match your own. Bumpits

6) Athena 7 Minute Lift. I had seen this product advertised and hadn't tried it, until yesterday. It works. The company advertises that "Athena 7 Minute Lift helps to reduce the appearance of crow's feet, laugh lines, forehead creases, brow lines and saggy neck skin." It's a collection of organic botanical oils taken from an old Greek "recipe" for youthful skin. The 7 Minute part means that you'll see visible results (skin-tightening, wrinkle reduction) in seven minutes, not that it will only last seven minutes. According to the manufacturer, the effects last seven to 10 hours initially, but longer if you keep using it daily. I only had them apply the product to one eye and I could definitely see the difference all day. Plus, I like that it's not tested on animals, even though all the ingredients are natural and organic. Athena 7 Minute Lift

7) Bubalina Bath & Body Products. Here's another fun one! The colorful art on the products is museum quality. The products themselves are yummy concoctions of natural and organic ingredients with scents you won't find every day: Citron Rose, Coco Lime Verbena, Spicy Pumpkin, Tahitian Vanilla, to name a few. Their travel packs are perfect for today's airports because each product comes in a handy two-ounce size packed in a little case with that museum-quality artwork on the outside. Bubalina Beauty

8) Moroccanoil for hair. Here's a fantastic hair product that restores shine and softness to hair without leaving an oily residue or build-up. It also protects the hair against ultraviolet damage. Moroccanoil is made of Argan oil, which has been used for centuries by Moroccan women to protect their hair from their damaging and dry environment. The Argan tree grown only in an area of Southwest Morocco called Argana. It flourishes in the desert-like conditions and produces fruit like olives only larger and rounder. Inside the fruit is a large nut that contains up to three almond-shaped kernels, which are the source of the oil. Argan oil is said to naturally renew cell structure. Moroccanoil

9) Velvet Liquid Eyeliner by Migi Cosmetics. Having an art background, I love this new product. It's liquid eyeliner in a pen with a velvet tip that allows for creating very fine lines or thicker lines or even allows you to create a henna-like design. Unlike other liquid eyeliners, you don't even have to keep you eyes closed to let it dry because it dries instantaneously as soon as you apply it. Velvet comes in five waterproof, non-smudging, long-lasting colors: black, green, brown, light brown and blue. Velvet Liquid Eyeliner

10) Bronze Biologic Spray Tan. Here's one you have to get done in a salon, but this is the best self-tanner I've ever encountered. I am completely inept when it comes to self-tanning, I admit it. Even at the spray-tan booth I managed to be inept - I got locked in and practically suffocated from inhaling the miasma of product that enveloped me. Bronze Biologic is professionally applied in five to eight minutes with streak-free, natural results, which I can attest to because I had my legs sprayed at the show and they're fabulous today! My biggest pet peeve about self-tanners is that annoying smell. Bronze Biologic goes on in a super-fine mist with no smell, but I did detect that typical smell as it developed (a small price to pay for gorgeous, bronze legs.) Plus, according to the company's literature, there are no harmful chemicals, perfumes, alcohols or dyes. Bronze Biologic

11) Toezeeze Biodegradable Toe Separators for pedicure. I love the simple concept of these toe separators - go green with pink. These are very similar to the packing "peanuts" that dissolve in water, but these are cute, little pink squishies that you use and throw away with no environmental impact because they dissolve in water. They're inexpensive, comfortable, fit anyone and, best of all, they're good for our planet. Toezeeze

So, you can see how it's becoming easier and easier to keep Aging Backwards when we have so many fantastic new products to help us!

first of all alot of people can't afford the methods you speak of Jackie. And second of all, I just recently seen you on a plane. I felt you were rude along with other people around me who felt the same way. You have no right to put down overweight people, not all people are overweight due to eating alot. You sat there and put down people outloud "I don't want to sit down next to 500 pound people" outloud no less. and then have the nerve to say that airlines should pay by the weight of the person. Well if your soo famous then go to first class. You act like you the bomb and flirt with 20 yr old men. Believe me, your not who u say u are. And alot of people heard u talk obnoxiously. I am also a health nut, but I would never put anyone down, God made us all different for reasons. YOu owe the public an apology.
