Tuesday Tips #45: A4M Anti-Aging Conference
Submitted by jackie on April 29, 2008 - 12:51pm.
The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M) conferences rank high up on my list of "favorite aspects of my work." I just returned from the 16h Annual World Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine held April 25 - 27 at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Orlando, Florida, where I discovered more of the latest, greatest ways to keep Aging Backwards. If you follow Tuesday Tips on LifeTwo.com, then you may remember the article Anti-Aging in Vegas where I introduced you to some of my favorite new finds at the Las Vegas conference last December. This year's highlights included fantastic presentations by A4M Founder and President Dr. Ronald Klatz, A4M Chairman Dr. Robert Goldman, Dr. Daisy Merey (diet and weight loss), Dr. Eduardo De Rose (sports anti-aging) and Dr. Sangeeta Pati (hormones and detoxification.) The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, Inc. (A4M) is a not-for-profit medical society dedicated to the advancement of technology to detect, prevent, and treat aging related disease and to promote research into methods to retard and optimize the human aging process. A4M is also dedicated to educating physicians, scientists, and members of the public on anti-aging issues. Highlights from the Orlando A4M Conference: 1) Jane Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, The Skin Care Makeup. I've been a fan of Jane Iredale products for quite a while and I was like a kid in a candy shop at their booth, where Debbie, Jill Ann and Tammy treated me like a Goddess. Favorite new finds: Liquid Minerals Foundation and Nighttime Purepressed Eye Shadow Kit. 2) Metabolism test. I had my metabolism tested and found out that I can eat 1,546 calories a day to maintain my weight (as a couch potato.) Add in regular activity plus exercise and that number goes up a few hundred. 3) Thermal imaging. "Smile, you're on thermal camera." I had my photo taken by Med-Hot Hi-Def Thermal Imaging and while I'm usually slightly more photogenic, it was interesting to see my "insides," so to speak. I'l be posting the thermal picture as well as other photos from the A4M Orlando Conference on my Galleries page at AgingBackwards.com soon. 4) Dr. Charles Runels. Dr. Runels, who practices in Mobile, Alabama, is the author of the number one sexual health book for men on Amazon. Guys, check it out HERE. He's currently working on one for the women. 5) Reveal Imager by Canfield Imaging Systems. The same company that makes the Visia Complexion Analysis machine has a new, more portable version that can sit right on the counter of a spa or doctor's office and instantly show anyone the condition of their skin. I have been a fan of the Visia because it shows that I have "97 percent fewer wrinkles than anyone my age," LOL. I would love to meet that three percent... 6) Read without glasses. I just happened to be walking out of the building when I met a man name Dr. Ray Gottlieb. We struck up a conversation and it turns out that he is the developer of the Read Without Glasses Method, which I have tried and written about in the past. You can read my article HERE. 7) Cocommune Bar. The healthy alternative to a Mounds candy bar, the Cocommune Bar is absolutely delicious! The company behind it, Designs For Health, explains that "the fat content of the bar is provided by coconut and coconut oil, which are rich in medium chain fatty acids known to possess anti-bacterial and immune-enhancing properties. Coconut oil is very easily burned into energy. It is made up of about 50% lauric acid which becomes 2 mono-lauren in the gut. 2-mono-lauren dissolves the lipid envelope that protects most pathogenic bacteria, viruses and parasites. It is not a surprise that lauric acid is found in human breast milk. All of these beneficial ingredients are wrapped up in nutritious and antioxidant-rich dark chocolate with only one net carbohydrate per bar." Most people know I'm a huge fan of coconut oil, which is why I have my own product, CocoBoddy, at AgingBackwards.com. I'm always on the lookout for anything that can keep me Aging Backwards so that I can tell you, so keep checking the Tuesday Tips every week.
