Aging Backwards Tuesday Tips #27: Anti-Aging in Vegas?

jackie's picture

We're just back from the 15th Annual International Congress on Anti-Aging Medicine and Regenerative Biomedical Technologies in Las Vegas, presented by the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M). This is one of the largest, if not THE largest, anti-aging conferences in the world, attended by about 6,000 people and featuring over 700 exhibits. It's the one conference I make a point of attending to find the absolute latest, greatest breakthroughs, treatments, equipment and services to keep us Aging Backwards. Keynote Speaker Suzanne Somers spoke about her success using bioidentical hormones and praised the attendees for getting on the "fast-moving train" of anti-aging medicine.

With so many exhibits, I can't possibly cover everything, but here's a wrap-up of what we found innovative and interesting in the world of "Aging Backwards."

Aging Backwards A4M Conference Finds

1) Revage 670 from Apira Science for hair loss. Lasers are being used to treat hair loss in men and women with measurable results. I spoke with Gavin Tucker of Apira Science about the Revage 670 Cool Laser and found out that not only does it offer benefits for shedding and thinning hair, but can also reverse the graying process of aging hair.

2) NeoStem stem cell banking. According to their literature, NeoStem is the first to provide adult stem cell collection and banking services to the general adult population. They collect your own stem cells for you to use later in case you need them to treat any diseases you may develop. The collection process takes about three to four hours during which time you're reclining in a comfortable chair and watching movies or listening to music. Lupus, diabetes, heart disease, cancers and multiple sclerosis are just a few of the diseases that have shown promising results using the person's own stem cells.

3) Vital Choice Wild Seafood & Organics. Unless you've been fishing in Alaska yourself, you've probably never tasted anything more delicious than Vital Choice Wild Salmon and Wild Sable. I can't think of a better way to get my Omega-3s. The company's founder, Randy Hartnell, fished the wild Alaskan waters for more than 20 years and now he brings you the finest, freshest catch available, right to your door. I can't even begin to describe to you the tender, delicate, incredible flavor of the Wild Sable. The Wild Salmon Sausage is delectable as well. I always tell my Aging Backwards audience to make sure you're getting WILD salmon and not farm-raised, which can contain an additive to change the color of the flesh according to the SalmoFan, a chart similar to paint color charts.

4) VelaShape for cellulite and circumference reduction. We've heard this statistic too many times: more than 80 percent of women over age 20 have some cellulite, regardless of their weight and size. VelaShape uses a combination of bi-polar radiofrequency and infrared light energy, plus vacuum and mechanical massage to increase lymphatic drainage, increase the metabolism of stored energy and shrink the size of the actual fat cells and fat chambers with noticeable reduction of the treated area. I was lucky enough to be the "guinea pig" for a VelaShape treatment by John Shieh, MD, whose RejuvaYou Medical Spas serve the Southern California area. I noticed definitely skin tightening and a smaller waist after only one treatment.

5) H40 Hydrogen-Bonded Water. No, I didn't forget the most basic thing I learned in chemistry class - water is H20, but in this case, the most popular brand of water in Japan is H40. The explanation is way "sciency," but in a nutshell, according to the company's CEO Joseph Baxter, MSc, H40 is the first super antioxidant to be launched in the U.S. and the first antioxidant that selectively targets and protects against the most toxic free radicals in our bodies.

6) Omega Cure Fish Oil. Another way to get your omega-3s is with Omega Cure Fish Oil, with absolutely no fishy taste. The company calls it "The antidote for modern living." Scientists have recently found that omega-3 is more potent than statins like Lipitor or Zocor in reducing heart death, according to the company's Web site. I spoke with one of the company's co-founders, Dr. Bo Martinsen, about Omega Cure. He is from Norway and knows the inside of the Norwegian fish oil industry. I know that when I tasted Omega Cure, I could not detect even a slight hint of fish. I don't now about you, but I'd rather drink my supplements than swallow a "horse pill."

7) Peenuts and Bladder Balance. Disregard the funny name -- Peenuts is a must for any man over over 30 who wants a healthy prostate. I know the creator, Dr. Ron Wheeler, personally and I can tell you he is passionate about the subject of prostate health. Dr. Wheeler is the founder of the Prostatitis and Prostate Cancer Center in Sarasota, Florida, one of the premier centers in the U.S. Read my blog about Bladder Balance here.

8) Detoxamin Chelation Therapy suppositories. Chelation therapy is the administration of chelating agents to remove heavy metals from the body, including lead, arsenic or mercury. Up until now, chelation therapy was a long, uncomfortable process involving IVs, according to the company's CFO, Butch Svedeen. Their Web site states that "Detoxamin is the only suppository with scientific proof of bioavailability and absorption superior to even that of IV chelation therapy. Detoxamin is a unique, patented and proprietary blend, formulated over nine years of time, that no other suppository matches."

9) NewReality Creative Visualization and Relaxation. They're not kidding about the relaxation part. I took a "test drive" of the NewReality system and they had to practically drag me out of the chair when it was over. I spoke with Dr. Patrick K. Porter, the voice of NewReality, and he explained that clients obtain life-changing results for a variety of goals such as smoking cessation, weight loss, chronic pain, improved performance, coping with menopause and more. It only takes about 20 minutes, using a combination of music, flashing lights and Dr. Porter's voice to bypass the conscious mind and go directly to the subconscious to achieve the desired results.

10) The CryoProbe. Here's one you have to ask your doctor about, but it may be well worth it. The CryoProbe is a hand-held device that allows the doctor or his assistant (even an esthetician can use it) to "freeze" off brown spots and other lesions on the skin with no pain and no numbing. Dr. Sheldon Willens, Vice President of Cryosurgical Concepts, Inc. in Boynton Beach, Florida, demonstrated the CryoProbe for me by freezing two spots on my abdomen. It takes a little while to see the end result, but so far the spots look as if they're going to heal and disappear.

As you can see, there was much to discover at the anti-aging conference in Las Vegas and I've only scratched the surface here. I'll be posting additional information at AgingBackwards.com, so be sure to check the site!
