Submitted by Wesley on October 25, 2007 - 6:56pm.
The source article for this post (both at Contemporary Retirement and at MSNBC) is actually called "The 12 'Germiest' Places in Your Life." However when I read about the places and what makes them 'germy' all I could think of was "gross!" For example, in place #4, wet laundry, we learn that there is "about a gram of feces in every pair of dirty underwear." Like I said, "gross!" Here is the list:
Click through to the MSNBC article for tips on how to mitigate these and other germ havens. You will see that rule #1 is to wash your hands as eighty percent of infections are spread through hand contact. It's also a good idea to carry alcohol-based hand sanitizer gel or wipes with you.) Having read the article they are now the #1 and #2 items on my shopping list.) By the way there is a popular misconception about how long viruses can survive outside of a living body. Depending on the surface, they can survive surprisingly long times, up to four days. One final tip, check your hotel sheets for rust-colored stains, they could be a sign of bedbugs. Gross!
