Three New Books For The Middle-Aged
Submitted by Greg on October 11, 2007 - 9:35am.
Writer Caroline Leavitt looks at three new books for forty- and fifty-somethings for the Boston Globe : ![]() Anne Kreamer investigates why people color their hair and uses that as an entree to explore aging itself. Leavitt writes that "While the book is illuminating about the choices some of us feel forced to make in a youth-oriented society, something about its premise kept nagging at me. Why is it OK to choose clothes and makeup that make you feel good but not hair color?" ![]() Laurie Perry tells how knitting -- yes, knitting -- helped her recover from a failed relationship. Leavitt calls it "a hilarious best friend of a book." ![]() Forty Things to Do When You Turn Forty: Forty Experts on the Subject of Turning Forty These essays look at the positive side of turning forty and how to focus on what you want to do with the rest of your life. Leavitt says they're "as addictive as pretzels." While little will surprise you, she says, "... there's a delicious sense of self-confidence, hope, and camaraderie in this volume, making it perfect for a 40th-birthday gift." --- Read Similar LifeTwo Stories:
