A very easy way to reduce your risk of "Early" death

A recent "meta-analysis" of 18 separate trials involving nearly 60,000 patients found that people who took vitamin D supplements had a 7 percent lower risk of death than those who didn't. This follows previous studies that have shown that vitamin D deficiency increases the risk of cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

"Intake of ordinary doses of vitamin D supplements seems to be associated with decreases in total mortality rates," said Philippe Autier of the International Agency for Cancer Research in France and Sara Gandini of the European Institute of Oncology in Milan.

While the meta-analysis could not isolate the exact reasons, researchers believe that vitamin D might block cancer cells from spreading or boost the immune system.

Other benefits of vitamin D include healthy teeth and bones as well as nerve cells. Few foods are naturally rich in Vitamin D, known as the "sunshine" vitamin because the body produces it during exposure to sunlight, so supplementation is important.
