Doctors give man five days for his wish list

Wesley's picture

The Mirror (UK) has the touching story of a man who doctor's gave just five days to do whatever things he wanted to on his wish list before going to a cancer unit for his final days.

The former marathon runner, who was diagnosed with terminal cancer just six weeks ago, said: "I only had a few days and I could feel my energy going on a daily basis. I was exhausted afterwards. I couldn't have left it another day to do these things. I did it all in a four or five-day window."

First on his list was sorting out the paperwork for his footwear firm.

Then came his drive in the luxury Italian sports car to his local market for a bacon sandwich with pals.

Next came the motor yacht cruise off the south coast near his home in Bournemouth with wife Sue and sons Daniel, 23, Ian, 19, and Gregg, nine. Keith then visited his favourite cafe, the Fab in Bournemouth, to eat a plate of scrambled eggs and baked beans.

And finally, he laid on a party for 250 friends and family - playing all his favourite Neil Diamond songs before saying an emotional farewell.

He said: "I wanted to see my friends gathered together before I die, rather than after. It was a touching evening, full of laughter and a few tears."

He also put his finances together and then remarked "I know all that can be done for my family has been done."
