Booster Shots - Not Just For Kids

Greg's picture

While the medical community debates the value of the annual checkup, patients should check to see whether they need to go anyway -- for immunizations.

The Centers for Disease Control publishes a Recommended Adult Immunization Schedule. Adults may need shots if

  • they aren't immune to certain diseases -- for instance, if they can't show they were previously immunized; or
  • they have certain risk factors.

The charts are too complicated to explain here; better to follow the CDC link above and think about what shots you might need.

Maybe the annual checkup isn't such a bad idea after all!
