Two experts in mid-career job searches and career changes offered up some tips to the Washington Post's Jennifer Huget. While some could apply to any job search, several are unique to midlife:

Gail Geary was a high school English teacher, then a lawyer, and now runs Atlanta Career Transition. Steven Greenberg left law and is now a columnist for Forbes.
