Midlife Health: the upside of doing housework, it cuts the risk of breast cancer up to 30%

Wesley's picture

In a study that will probably fuel more than a few household debates, the BBC is reporting about a study found that doing household chores was far more cancer protective than many other forms of exercise.

Dusting, mopping and vacuuming was also better than having a physical job.

It's not hard to imagine husbands citing this study to back up their assertion that by not their share of housework they are in fact helping their wives.

While researchers have long known that physical exercise can reduce the risk of breast cancer, less is know about the type and amount of exercise that reduces the risk.

The amount of risk reduction in the study was significant: 30% among the pre-menopausal women and 20% among the post-menopausal women.
