Quoted: "No One Can Give 'Meaning' To Your Life Except You"

Greg's picture

MarketWatch's Paul B. Farrell asks you to think about what will be truly important when you retire:

You can have health, friends, family, total security and all the money you'll ever need, but unless your life has "meaning," nothing matters. And no one can give "meaning" to your life except you. Not a million-dollar portfolio, not being debt-free, nor tight abs, low cholesterol, nor a famous guru, evangelist or yoga instructor. All that's irrelevant if you don't know deep in your soul the meaning of your life.

Only you can ever know whether you're living a meaningful life or one of quiet desperation.

That's a brilliant quote

Thanks for sharing that quote. I think we all have our moments of "quiet desperation" just because life can sometimes seem empty -- but I really like the concept that making your life meaningful, or finding the meaning in your life, is up to the individual. To me that means casting aside all of society's judgments and listening to one's inner voice, and living in accordance with that truest part of oneself.

Oops

Everything I'm doing today seems to be a little off. I just noticed that this quote was posted last December! Still, it popped up as something that might interest me after my last post in the midlife and always single women thread, so I stand by my remarks!
