BloggingBoomers
Submitted by Wesley on December 2, 2006 - 11:57am.
BOOMER BLOGS TEAM UP BOSTON and LOS ANGELES – A collection of leading baby boomer blogs are coming together to create a weekly blogging “carnival” to promote important and relevant information, advice, and community for baby boomers. This will be one of the first blog round-ups of its type aimed specifically at baby boomer-related issues. It is no secret that baby boomers – those born between 1946 and 1964 – are influential in virtually all aspects of American culture and life. This influence is derived from a variety of factors, including: • Size: 77 million strong, representing 27% of the country’s population Despite this power and influence, baby boomers generally come up short when it comes to the Internet. When one pictures a typical Internet entrepreneur, a 20-something is the likely image. But this is all starting to change: • Online dating sites are reporting that those in their 40s, 50s, and 60s are their fastest growing user segment. “One of the reasons baby boomers are under-represented in the blogging world is the shortage of blogs of interest to them -- as well as the difficulty of finding them. “We created BloggingBoomers to fix both of these problems,” says Wesley Hein of LifeTwo. “We are expecting a tidal wave of boomers to get into blogging in the next few years, and we at BloggingBoomers want to be there to welcome them,” says Rhea Becker of The Boomer Chronicles.
