BloggingBoomers Carnival #1
Submitted by Wesley on December 3, 2006 - 12:07pm.
It is no secret that the 77 million baby boomers – those born between 1946 and 1964 – are influential in virtually all aspects of American culture and life. Baby Boomers represent 27% of the U.S. population, 75% of its wealth, and have spending power of $1.1 trillion dollars. In response we have helped form the BloggingBoomers--a weekly roundup (also known as a "carnival") of the top stories on the top blogs dedicated to baby boomer interests. The Blogging Boomers carnival will appear each week at a different boomer blog. These are all good blogs and we strongly recommend you take the opportunity to check each one out. This week it is being hosted here at LifeTwo. Our featured story is 20 Questions About Midlife Crisis. Whether you are in the midst of a midlife crisis, know someone that is, or are just curious about the topic, this posting covers all aspects of male and female midlife crises. While on the topic of midlife, Nicolette at Man-o-pause offers you a chance to change the world. Better yet all you have to do is write 500 words (okay, that's the first step). Read her Mid-Life Man-ifesto and better yet do something about it. With the new year almost upon us, it is time to start making our exercise resolutions. But what to do? Fortunately, the Boomer Chronicles has help in the form of a breakdown in what works and doesn't work for burning calories in Sorry, But Miniature Golf Does Not Count as Exercise. Here is something that does work, a DVD that walks you through a low-impact, calorie burning work-out. It is produced by the blog Gen Plus -- Reinventing 50 Plus and is covered at Forget your Aches and Pains -- Workout for 50 Plus Hits the Market!. Not to be outdone, Ann at Contemporary Retirement has information on Everything you always wanted to know about toupee tape (but were afraid to ask)!. (Based on what I see on the top of men's heads when I go to Las Vegas, I'd say this post is going to get a lot of traction.) Over at So Baby Boomer: Life Tips you'll find holiday baby boomer gift giving tips (just in time for the holiday season). While you are there check out So Baby Boomers's other life tips on living healthy and comfortably (albeit self-indulgently). The Rearview Mirror has One This Another That discussing More Magazine as well as her own midlife career change. It is the exception, not the rule, for someone to not have several career changes in their life (including a big one in midlife) so it is always helpful reading about how others deal with their changes. Think boomer blogs are all about back-aches, knitting or people's cats? You couldn't be more wrong. Exhibit A is the blog Your Drum who this week is running a post called Paris, Lindsay, and Britney Meet Lao Tze... about a contemporary art show and its reflections of our culture. Bored you will not be. Next week's BloggingBoomers carnival will be at the Boomer Chronicles. LifeTwo's posts about the Blogging Boomer's can always be accessed here. Read Similar LifeTwo Stories:

Blogging Boomers Carnival #1
I feel life is all about me again! Gen X & Y really upset me when they claimed ownership of "all about me". I was youngest sibling of baby boomer gen and all youngest siblings of BB know it has always "been about me". Over the fast paced years that has seen technology replace the importance of "baby boomers" and the tech heads number one goal has been to extinguish all avenues of opportunity to repudiate the take over, over 50's blogging sites have struck back to show the disrespectful tech head generation that baby boomers will not be silenced! We may need tech heads to create the sites, but now the crack in the blogging site door has appeared, baby boomers will now revert to type and ensure that the scurrilous, younger, beautiful, beefed and waxed bods that call themselves Gen X & Y will be assigned to the status of silver, while baby boomers again take gold! Welcome home "It's all about me"!
