Free Hugs: (Almost) guaranteed to make you smile
Submitted by Wesley on October 9, 2006 - 9:35am.
More and more research is coming through confirming what we've all witnessed pretty much our entire lives. Namely that positive attitude = greater likelihood of success in whatever endeavor one is undertaking. If you have a goal to be happy (and shouldn't everyone), then having a positive attitude about having a positive attitude is a must. Ignoring the Cheshire Cat-like phrasing of the previous sentence, what do we do about Mondays when there appears to be very little going on to make us feel good? The answer of course is that there is much good in our lives but we often have trouble seeing it through the fog of the deadlines, coffee spills, and traffic jams that hit us first thing on Monday mornings. Every once in awhile, however, we get a little something that makes us smile and, for reasons unknown, feel good. Something like that happened to me today. I came across a link on Contemporary Retirement to this clip on YouTube. Even while clicking on it I didn't expect it to be worth the few seconds that I planned to give it. But it made me laugh and feel just a little better--not life changing--but better. I'm sure we've all heard the questions "How do you eat an elephant? Answer: one bite at a time" or its related "How do you run a marathon? Answer: one step at a time." Similarly, how do you maintain a positive attitude about life when there is so much to not feel good about? Answer: one funny little thing at a time. Maybe this will be your funny little thing. Note: As of today, the clip has been viewed over 2 million times on YouTube so I'd say that it is making a lot of people happy. For more on Positive Psychology, click on the tag below.
