Are men's lives more difficult than women's?

Wesley's picture

Fausta Wertz recently wrote in her blog about her hypothesis on why men's lives are more difficult these days. She listed three trends (see this link for pull posting) but it was the first one that was the most thought-provoking. Fausta calls it the "The Church of Oprah" trend.

One of the central tenets of the Church of Oprah is that women are inherently better than men. A corollary of that is that women are more nurturing than men...

...[and] we have a whole industry (network and cable TV, magazine, books, seminars) propagating the idea that women are inherently better than men.

Yes. Men are constantly being reminded that they are the inferior sex.

And what does Fausta think of the former Oprah protege who created an entire industry out of the premise "men are from Mars and women are from Venus"?

"Nonsense. Women and men are made of the same clay. Just because men are not women doesn't mean they come from another planet.

Fausta's comments have struck a nerve. At the point of this writing her blog had generated over 60 comments.
