Distracted? You're Not Alone
Submitted by Greg on June 9, 2006 - 11:37am.
The Los Angeles Times today reported that University of Toronto researchers believe they have found why middle-age brains are more easily distracted than younger ones. According to the article, "Two key regions of the brain that allow the mind to focus on a single task and tune out unwanted thoughts get out of kilter much earlier in life than previously suspected." The research will be published in the Journal of Cognitive Science. The article also notes that "many researchers are trying to learn whether multi-tasking techniques meant to improve communication and productivity could instead make people scatterbrained, leaving them lethargic and forgetful." Is this you? Do you find it harder to get things done than when you were 30? What techniques do you use to work around the problem? Read Similar LifeTwo Stories:
