This is stupid. Average life spans mean just that: AVERAGE. Except in the author's mind, does it mean anything else to anybody. To imply that a change from 50 years to 77 years AVERAGE life span is not truly a medical advance because most what drags the life span down in the past was infant mortality is missin the point. By the author's account 1 in 5 of the people wasting their time reading this (or commenting) would not be here if not for the medical advances. And by the way, having 11 more years to live after 40 is remarkable. I'll take it. »
